EPL Match Day 5 Predictions 2016/2017 Season

The English Premier League returns for a "mad" weekend of football beginning with the rare Friday super clash between Chelsea and Liverpool and rounds up with a Super Sunday clash between Tottenham Hotspurs and David's Moyes Sunderland.
FRIDAY 16/9/2016
Chelsea Vs Liverpool 8pm
Chelsea one of the teams yet to loose a game this season play host to Klopp's Liverpool who are gradually looking like the real deal after a long while since the exist of Rafa Benitez from the Merseyside Club which have now seen them miss out of the Champions League since 2010 not until the 2014/2015 season in which they were eliminated in the group stage.

Chelsea under Conte have been playing a well organised and compact pattern of football which have help breath life into star players notably Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.  They will be coming up against a Liverpool side who has found it so easy to score goals (9 goals) this season with the arrival of Sadio Maine who is willing to run down a defence for a whole 90 minutes.
Chelsea will be without skipper John Terry who limped off the pitch after their last match with Swansea and this will provide David Luiz an opportunity to get back into the heart of the Blue's back line.
This weekend premier League opener promises to be one filled with goals with both team expected to get on the score sheet, no doubt this will be an interesting way to kick start the weekend.
Prediction: Chelsea 2 - 2 Liverpool (x)

Saturday 17/9/2016
West Brom Vs West Ham 3pm
West brom has gained a reputation for being unpredictable because you never know which West Brom side will show up. One thing is certain, Tony Pullis will assemble his team in such a way that they will be difficult to break down which will mean that west ham will have to dig deep to get anything from this game, after throwing away all 3 point last week to Watford. Truth be told, it seems as though West ham are yet to get used to their new stadium and so it safe to say that they favour the away games.
Prediction: West Brom 1 - 2 West Ham (x2)

Hull City Vs Arsenal 3pm
Since the appointment of Mike Phelan as the care taker coach of Hull city, anyone taking on Hull City always has it at the back of his mind that he is playing against a team with the heart of Manchester United of Sir Alex Ferguson. A team that do not want to loose.
This game against Arsenal will be an interesting one bearing in mind that Mike Phelan was the assistant manager under Sir Alex when Wenger and his "boys" found it difficult to beat United for a very long period of time from 2008/2009 season to 2011/2012 season.
So it will be expected that Mike will prepare his team same as United usually prepared for games against Arsenal.
For Arsenal after picking up a point against PSG in the opening game of their UEFA Champions League campaign they will be full of confidence approaching this one and will be hoping the attacking strength of Ozil, Giroud and Sanchez will be enough for them to go away with all 3 points in  this game.
I expect a tight game but if Arsenal should get a goal early in the first half then it will as well be a stroll for them.
Prediction: Hull City 1 - 2 Arsenal (x2)

Leicester City Vs Burnley 3pm
Anyone who witnessed Leicester debut game in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday against the Belgian League champions Club Brugge where they demolished the Belgian club 3 - 0 away from home. Will definitely expect them to take that form into this weekend's game against Burnley.
Though the premier League has time and time again proven to be a lot different to European Football, I cannot see anything other than a home win for Leicester City.
Prediction: Leicester City 3 - 0 Burnley (1)

Manchester City Vs Bournemouth 3pm
If this were to be a Manchester City team managed by any coach other than Pep Guardiola I would have found it difficult to predict this one and would have been going for a goalless draw. But With Pep in charge I see Manchester City coming out of this one with a victory however way it comes.
Bournemouth despite being tipped as favourite last week against Hull City were forced to share the spoil, they know that they just have to show up for this game and put up a performance to be proud off to take them into their next game.
Prediction: Manchester City 4 - 1 Bournemouth (1)

Everton Vs Middlesbrough 5pm
The game against Sunderland on Monday was the spring board Everton needed to get their season on the way, with star striker Roman Lukaku finding his scoring boost and getting a hat trick after a long drought in front of goal. Middlesbrough on the other hand have enjoyed a descent life back into the premier League as they have been able to pick up one win and two draws from their first four games in the top flight. But as they say, nothing last forever. This late Saturday kick off have grown a reputation for being very tricky mostly for the teams viewed as the favourites. But no matter how tricky this one turns out to be, I see Koeman's team getting themselves a deserved home victory.
Prediction: Everton 3: 2 Middlesbrough

SUNDAY 18/9/2016
Watford Vs Manchester United. 12pm
Watching Manchester United first three games of the season one will think that the team was ready to dismantle whatever challenge was placed in front of them. But fast forward two games later(The Manchester derby and the Europa game) the memories of David Moyes and LVG have found their way back into the minds of the Old trafford faithful.
This super Sunday kick off against Watford has presented Jose Mourihno and his men an opportunity to banish the ghost of the last two mangers forever from the hearts of their supporters knowing that any thing short of a three point will live them hunted for the rest of the season.
For Watford and their fans its just quite unfortunate they are the ones paired to host this wounded United this weekend. Maybe they should take solace in their 4 - 2 victory over West Ham last weekend.
Prediction: Watford 0 - 1 Manchester United (2)

Southampton Vs Swansea City 2:15pm
This is one of those games where you cannot separate the two teams. Swansea coming into this one with a 2 - 2 draw with Chelsea will be struggling to make sure they do not return to ground zero with a defeat. And Southampton who were hard done by Arsenal as they gave up all three point to the Gunners in the closing moments of the game last weekend. Both team will be fighting to avoid defeat in this one and so this will be a very close one.
Prediction: Southampton 2 - 2 Swansea 2:15pm (x)

Crystal Palace Vs Stoke City 2: 15pm
The 2:15pm kickoff games of this weekend super Sunday are all close call games , the teams involved cannot be easily separated. Crystal Palace find themselves at the 15th position with 4 points from 4 games while Stoke sit on 19 with just one point and no win yet. From the stats it goes to show that both teams have so far not being doing well at all but maybe this is the game Stoke City badly need to set their season in motion.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1 - 2 Stoke City (2)

Tottenham Hotspur Vs Sunderland 4:30pm
Tottenham at the moment won't be criticized as doing badly even though they lost their first game of the 2016/2017 Champions League season to Monaco at Wembly as they have picked up 8 points from 4 games, scoring 7 goals and conceding just 2. They find themselves up against a Sunderland team who are eager to pick up their first win of the season. Sunderland have been putting up some promising performances but always loose the game somewhere along the line.
This test against Spurs will be too difficult for them, as they don't have enough to stop the attacking threat of spurs for the whole duration of the game.
Their only saving grace will be; if they can get a goal somehow and then defend it but that has not been one strong side of David Moyes' team since after his Everton days.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2 - 0 Sunderland
