According to @Optajoke it feels like 6 months since the last time a premier league game was played due to the international break to some I guess it feels much more. The good news is the ever entertaining English premier league returns to our screens this weekend for its week 8 round of matches, as the league table begin to take shape with teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool gradually finding their way to reasonable positions on the log.
The weekend kicks off with a big clash between Champions Leicester City and Seventh placed Chelsea fc and concludes with the match of the week between Manchester United and Liverpool Fc a game which has been termed "The Red Monday"match.
SATURDAY 15/10/2016
Chelsea Vs Leicester City 12:30pm
The blues return back to Stamford Bridge after their 2- 1 defeat to Liverpool to host champions Leicester City on the back of a 0 - 2 away win at Hull City. Chelsea have found it difficult playing against the big teams so far under Italian manager Conte loosing both games to Arsenal and Liverpool. The game with Leicester provides them a chance to correct the wrongs and get back to winning ways at home. The Blues will be boasted by the fact they have a 67% win ratio at home compared to the 0% of Leicester City away from home so far this season.
Leicester on the other hand have found life as defending champion tough to handle as teams prepare extra hard to face them which has currently left them 12th on the table with just 8 points from a possible 21.
Claudio Ranieri returns back to Stamford bridge where his team finished the premier league as champions with a 1 - 1 scoreline. The Italian says he cannot explain the Foxes poor away form this season, but he hope to turn things around against his former club.
Prediction: Chelsea 2 - 1 Leicester City (1, GG, Over 2.5)
Arsenal Vs Swansea City 3pm
New Swansea boss Bob Bradley could not have asked for a tougher first day at the office than a game against an in form Arsenal team who have won five straight games on a roll in the league. One cannot help but feel for the American who seems to have been enjoying life at the Liberty stadium with his new players during the international break.
Many may want to argue that while the gunners stars were away for the international break the swans had enough time to prepare for the game, but in truth football isn't always like that. Swansea may have a fantastic record against Arsenal at the Emirate with their last defeat being in 2011, I see the table turning around in favour of the Gunners this time around.
Prediction: Arsenal 3 - 0 Swansea (1, over 2.5)
Bournemouth Vs Hull City 3pm
Going by the statistics this fixture have the face of a low scoring one. Bournemouth who find themselves 13th on the table with 8th points have so far scored just 6 goals and conceded 11 same as this weekend opponent who have scored a goal more and have acquired the services of Mike Phelan on a full time basis.
Bournemouth have been impressive so far this season winning 2, loosing 2 and also drawing 2 with an average of 1.14 goal per game. As they welcome the Tigers to the Vitality stadium they will be hoping that their home form will play to their favour.
Hull City on the other hand will be hoping to begin life with New manager on a winning note or better still avoiding a fourth straight defeat.
Prediction: Bournemouth 1 - 1 Hull City (1X, X2, over 1.5)
West Brom Vs Tottenham 3pm
West brom are yet to find a win since their 4 -2 demolition of West Ham on match day 3, they will be hoping to turn things around when they host early title contenders Tottenham at the Hawthorns Stadium. West Brom enter this one with a win ratio of 37% at home against the 67% away record Spurs already have in this campaign. Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has played down talks labelling his side as title favourites after their 2- 0 win over Manchester City saying it is too early in the season to say so.
Spurs will be boosted by the news that Harry Kane has resume training though he will not be available for this clash. Statistically Tottenham has scored an average of 2.33 goals in their away games compared to West Brom 1.67 goals at home.
Prediction: West Brom 1 - 3 Tottenham (2, GG, Over 2.5)
Manchester City Vs Everton 3pm
Manchester City return home after their terrible visit to White Hart Lane where they were stunned by a resilient Tottenham team. They will be hoping to appease their fans who made the trip to London on match day 7 with a convincing victory against the team from the Blue side of Merseyside.
After their defeat Pep Gaurdiola said "Loosing is necessary to improve,to get better" banking on those words he will be hoping his side return to winning ways as he continues his project at the Etihad.
Everton on the other hand will be praying and hoping that with City visiting Camp Nou on Wednesday for the UEFA Champions League clash, Pep Gaurdiola's men will not be firing from all cylinder.
Koeman's Everton are currently enjoying one of their best start to a premier league season with 5 wins in 7 games, 67% away win record and averaging 1.67 goals per game away from home.
With City and Everton known for playing attacking football, this promises to be an entertaining one for the neutrals and one sure to be filled with goals, bearing in mind that Manchester City striker Kun Augero has his best goal scoring record against Everton and both coaches where both team mates at Barcelona though the Manchester City boss was an under study to his opposite number.
Prediction: Manchester City 4 - 2 Everton (1, GG, over 3.5)
Stoke City Vs Sunderland 3pm
Stoke City will be licking their mouth as they host Struggling Sunderland who are without Vito Mannone, Seb Larsson, Jan Kirchhoff, Adnan Januzaj and Fabio Borini to the Britannia stadium on Saturday. The potters will be buzzing with confidence after they escaped with a point from Old trafford in their last game. This bottom of the table clash is a must win for both teams as a win for any team will take them a little bit higher on the log. The pressure will be on David Moyes to get a result as he has failed to get a win in the premier league since taking over at the stadium of light.
Prediction: Stoke City 2 - 1 Sunderland (1, GG, over 2.5)
Crystal Palace Vs West Ham 5:30pm
Not much can be said about this particular game just the fact that West Ham are still looking for their second win of the season and it seems very unlikely they will find it in this game, especially with the current form of Christian Benteke who have found the net on four occasions since making the move from Liverpool.
Predictions: Crystal Palace 2 - 0 West Ham (1, over 1.5)
SUNDAY 15/10/2016
Middlesbrough Vs Watford 1:30pm
Watford are yet to win in their last 2 matches, with one defeat and a draw. They will be hoping their front men Odion Ighalo and Troy Deneey will be in form to fire them to a victory against Middlesbrough at the Riverside in the early Super Sunday kick off. Middlesbrough who once looked like the spoilers this season have began to learn the hard lesson that life in the premier league is not easy. They will try their best to see if they can come away with something from this game.
Prediction Middlesbrough 1 - 2 Watford (x2, GG, over 1.5)
Southampton Vs Burnley 3pm
Southampton have been unbeaten in their last 3 games winning 2 and one draw. They will seek to extend that run to four as they play host to an unpredictable Burnley team who will be hurt by the last minute defeat to Arsenal when Arsene Wenger marked his 20th year in charge as the manager of Arsenal football club.
Prediction: Southampton 2 - 1 Burnley (1, GG, over 1.5)
MONDAY 17/10/2016
Liverpool Vs Manchester United 7:45pm
The most in form team in the League play host to Manchester United in the Red Monday clash.
The fixture is one Liverpool fans highly anticipate every season. The presence of Jose Mourinho as manager of Manchester United have added a much needed spice to the game. The balance seems to tips to united's favour having defeated their rival in the last four league games.
But going by form, Liverpool seem to be the universal favourite for this game. Its not quite often United go in to games as under dogs, and when they do, they always produce something special, with their 3 - 0 demolition of Tottenham under LVG coming to mind, when they scored 3 goals in the first half and Wayne Rooney performing his boxing celebration and then went on to finish the game with same scoreline.
This games most definitely will have a different dimension as Jurgen Klopp team seems to have found its rhythm while Jose is yet to discover his best team. Liverpool knocked out Manchester United from the Europa League last season, which is something Manchester United will have in mind as they go to hurt their fierce rival.
I won't be surprise if Mata and Ibrahimovic find their name on the score sheet for this one.
Prediction: Liverpool 2 - 2 Manchester United (1x, x2, GG, Over 1.5)
